Its easy for the potential employer to glance at your resume and do the quick math. Youre forced to enter the years on an online application. These are realities. But hitting age 50 does elend automatically mean its all uphill from here. Lets talk about the 3 smartest things you can do when youre job searching over age 50.1) Articulate Your VisionAt this point in your career, things are not new. What do you want to do? The question is not that loaded. What have you done up to this point that you liked? That you excelled at? That brought you satisfaction and made you feel like you were contributing?If youre career changing, resist the tendency to showcase every skill you have, then let the employer decide where you best fit in. You create the vision for your next job, your career, and your life. T he employer is hiring you to do exactly one job. Determine what the employer in your new targeted field wants this is stated in the ad. Thats when the calls come in for your interviews.The other th ing that happens when you reach is that you advance. If you only pursue the roles youve always had, then you will only get the roles youve always had. You deserve more. You are the one who gets to konzept your future. The strategy is to segment your job search into safe positions you know you can get, and mix in those reach roles.
